About tri2rescue
Mission
I am dedicated to raising awareness and support for rescue animals! There are so many good animals that need to be adopted. To no fault of their own, they are stuck in cages at a humane society and don't know why. They need a good home with a loving family who cares for them like one of their own. Puppies get adopted all the time, but there are many animals who need that special home. They may not get along with other animals well, they might have an injury or need special medication, or might just get passed by for other reasons. Another common reason they are overlooked is because they seem aggressive in their kennel but they are really just scared. My mission is to help these animals with the greatest need get adopted!
Method
I love to run triathlons. I decided to use this platform to raise awareness for the loving animals that are in need of a good home! These animals are what motivates me. Racing triathlons betters myself physically and mentally, and at the same time creates more awareness for the animals in need! I want to spread the word to as many people as possible about all the great rescue dogs and cats that are currently available. There are so many good animals at the kennel who need love and are just waiting for their forever home. I try to go see all of the animals I share and spend time with them so that I have a good idea of what type of pet they really are and what type of home they need. My goal is to help educate and spread awareness for rescue animals at triathlons and other athletic events as well as find specific high need animals a home. If you see me at an event, please come say hi. Especially if you have your dog with you because I am probably carrying dog treats with me ;)
What you can do
I can't do it alone. I need your help! Please help the rescue animals by sharing my story and sharing the website and Instagram with your friends. The best thing you can do is spread the word and get these animals awareness! Tri2rescue is an official 501(c)3 non-profit organization so if you make a donation it is tax deductible and 100% goes to the cause. It's all for the animals! I work closely with the local humane societies and animal shelters in need. I will supply them with any special needs such as food or blankets when funding is low or the shelters are overloaded with animals. Sometimes just a cash donation is best so they can buy specifically what they need or help pay their employees. All of this is only possible with your donation! Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Please consider a very small monthly donation. It may not seem like much, but your small monthly donation combined with many others adds up quickly! Just 3-5 dollars a month (less than your monthly music subscription) is more helpful than you can imagine.
My story
I rescued my first dog in 2004 (Roger who is in the background here). Since then I have rescued 3 more. I started racing triathlons in 2018. Recently I decided to race for a cause, and what better cause than to support rescue animals! I own just dogs due to a cat allergy but I support the rescuing of all animals. They have so much love to give but haven't been given the opportunity to have a good home. I hope to spread awareness, help animals get adopted, and raise funds to donate to the local humane society or shelters that are in need!
Support the tri2rescue cause!
All donations are tax deductible
Any and all donations are appreciated and helpful!

Racing update
February 15th, 2022
I have not been racing recently due to an injury. I am working hard at getting back to good health. It's frustrating to not be able to race and knowing that I am not in as good shape as I was due to not being able to run. I was hoping to be back in time for the Florida Intimidator but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. I definitely want to be healthy in time for the Cool Sommer Mornings Series, but if I do, I may just be doing the Sprint this year instead of the Olympic depending on how my healing process goes. Right now I am unable to run more than a mile without pain. Looking forward to getting back to racing ASAP!

Clash Daytona
December 4th, 2021
My first duathlon! What a blast. It was short, shorter than I would have liked, but such a fun race. The venue was amazing as usual. I always forget how big the Daytona International Speedway is. Racing around the track is such a fun experience. Shout out to Clash Endurance for putting on a spectacular race! They were organized and had plenty of volunteers. The course was set up perfect and the transition area was the best I have seen. Soft mats everywhere, plenty of room for everyone, and everything was very well marked. I will definitely be racing here again next year.
My favorite part of the day was meeting some very cool people who love triathlons and love rescue animals! Thank you for those who came up to me and asked about my Tri Kit and what the non-profit was all about. Thank you for spreading the word and being excited to help out with finding rescue animals a good home! Like I told everyone I met, donations are appreciated but spreading the word about the cause is so much more important! 100% of donations goes to the non-profit to help support rescue animals. Supplies for food or leashes and toys, or paying for things that I normally pay for personally out of pocket like website fees and overhead for T-Shirts and flyers. What helps most though is sharing the cause. Tell people about the non-profit and why I started it. There are so many really good animals at the shelter that are overlooked and need homes. The more people become aware the more homes are found for these amazing animals1 Share the logo, share the cause, spread the word!
Special thanks to Colleen and Sam for being so excited about tri2rescue and for spreading the word back home in Texas and California !

Game On! Ponte Vedra Beach Triathlon
October 10th, 2021
This was my first sprint triathlon in a while. It was a nice course, fairly flat. Swim was in the ocean, bike and run were just an out and back design. I was disappointed with how the race was setup and managed. The swim started late. There were very few lifeguards on surfboards, no jet skis or boats to be seen. The waves were so big I couldn't see the 7ft buoy until I was on top of the swells. The transition area was so cramped I couldn't get out on one side of the rack. When I ran into transition my bike had been knocked off onto the ground. My front brake was pushed into the tire and I didn't figure out what was wrong until a couple miles in. After that I raced ok.
I was sad to learn after the race that one swimmer needed assistance and not surprisingly, the one lifeguard never saw them. Participants nearby swimming had to bring them in. The person did not make it. We were talking before the race about how few lifeguards there were (I've seen way more at a lake course with no waves). My thoughts go out to the family. Very sad day.

Cool Sommer Mornings Series #4
September 11th, 2021
First of all, never forget the first responders that gave everything that day. They didn't hesitate to do their job and put others lives first. They saved so many lives that day and kept returning to save more. Thoughts go out to everyone that lost loved ones that day.
This race was my favorite of all four. I finished first in my age group which I've only done in the sprint distance, never international until today. I also finished second in my age group for the four part series. If you follow my training at all you know my swimming is my weakest discipline. I always start out too fast and then get winded and my asthma kicks in. Today I paced myself. It wasn't my fastest swim, but I never felt overwhelmed with trying to breath and left the water ready to attack the rest of the course. I am so happy with that progress. The swim was a little longer than usual. Bike felt strong, 2nd fastest I rode in the series by a fraction of a second. Run was the fastest of the four.
I am seeing a lot of familiar faces at the race and meeting amazing people who are positive and love to encourage each other to constantly get better. I had an awesome crew with me who cheered me on and took some great videos and photos. Looking forward to the next race, whenever that may be!

Cool Sommer Mornings Series #3
August 14th, 2021
What a fun race! My best friend Josh is now living here and raced his first tri in the Florida heat! He killed it! I raced significantly faster than last time so I'm pretty happy; 2nd place age group finish. We met lots of new dogs! Max the border collie was so well behaved and excited to be there. Lyla was such a sweet rescue dog who was a little skittish but some treats solved that :) The next race you will see one or two more supports of tri2rescue wearing the awesome kit from Epix Gear with the tri2rescue logo on it! If you're interested please contact me and I can help you design and order one. Looking forward to the final race in 4 weeks but also sad this Cool Sommer Mornings series is almost over. I'll be racing more this fall, updates to come on registrations.

Aunt Catfish Triathlon
July 17th, 2021
This was great race. Haven't done a sprint in a while, definitely have to have a different mindset throughout the race. Swim went better than usual, definitely still room for improvement. Finished 3rd in my age group. My friend raced his first triathlon and did amazing! I met some people who found a dog the day before and brought him to the race. He was such a sweetheart. They are looking for the owners but if they can't find them, they might just keep the dog. I love meeting people like this.

Cool Sommer Mornings Series #2
July 10th, 2021
Although I have been swim training, the swim went about the same. I decided to back off the bike a little bit in hopes of not being so sore for the run. Bike went ok, just one minute slower than last race. Run went really well! Felt strong, shaved off over 3 minutes. Overall time was one minute faster. I was hoping for more but I can't complain. Word is spreading about the rescues that need homes. Lots of flyers went out and people seem to be excited about helping out tri2rescue! Overall successful day.

Cool Sommer Mornings Series #1
June 6th, 2021
This race didn't go quite as well as planned, but it was still fun. Quick summary was a slow swim, moderate bike, and tight leg muscles on the run. Changing from all endurance to a weight lifting/endurance workout plan has been a challenge. I have gained some muscle and lost some of my distance ability since the 70.3. I still welcome the challenge of finding a happy medium between the two. Working hard for the next race and hopefully will develop a comfortable weight that I can still race at.

Ironman 70.3 Florida
April 18, 2021
Half Ironman complete! My goal was to finish in under 6 hours, and I finished in 5:58:37, just made it. More importantly, I met a lot of dogs and awesome people who care about them. Tri2rescue was represented well and word got out about the animals in need. Ironman was gracious enough to interview me and take some awesome video of the race. I will update that on my Instagram page as soon as it is available.
